Monalee is waiving the security deposit ($100 value) on new solar projects. Promotion expires 11/24/24.
We asked our homeowners why they decided to sign up with Monalee. Here's what they had to say.
It’s been a whirlwind two years for Monalee, and nothing makes us happier than hearing from our homeowners about how positive their experience with us has been for them.
In the last year alone, we’ve had quite a few milestones that have helped us up our game and provide an even better service to our homeowners. We’re now operating in 15 states (and counting), and have been featured on Google twice, including an in-depth case study featuring our patent-pending technology.
If you’re on the fence about switching to solar this year, here are 6 reasons why homeowners are choosing Monalee.
Let’s start with the obvious. Through leveraging advanced machine learning, we’re able to save homeowners thousands of dollars compared to other solar companies in their area.
What many people don’t know is that the solar industry is fairly traditional in that most things are done offline. There hasn’t been good software or tech leaders who have digitized it, which results in soft costs being about 75% of the total cost.
At Monalee, we’re shaking things up by digitizing as much as possible to reduce cost without ever compromising the quality of the equipment we use. For example, our in-house team is able to design the most efficient solar system possible based on the information and photos attained during the homeowner’s site survey.
The savings don’t stop there. We love checking in with homeowners like Robin (below) and hearing how low their monthly utility bills are after going solar. On average, a solar system tends to pay for itself in as little as five years.
We might be a tech company, but that doesn’t mean we slack off in our communication. In fact, transparency is a big part of our ethos here at Monalee and a value that’s always top of mind for our team.
There are a few ways in which we keep our homeowners informed. Ahead of a homeowner signing up with Monalee, they’ve already spoken to a member of our Customer Success team at least once on the phone.
From there, we send them a link to their individual project tracker where they can see exactly where their project is at any point in time. There are also educational resources on our blog that go into more detail about each step in our process and answer a lot of frequently asked questions.
If delays happen—most common with permitting, as it depends on how fast the homeowner’s local jurisdiction reviews their application—we regularly follow up on their behalf to speed things along as best we can.
Even though we’re able to save homeowners up to 50% of the total cost of going solar compared to competitors, it’s still a big investment and we treat it as such. From site surveys to design to installation, we do the heavy lifting so that the customer can enjoy the end results.
So, what does this look like? From start to finish, we schedule all the necessary in-person visits and submit applications for permitting and permission to operate from the homeowner’s utility company. If, on the rare occasion, a permit application isn’t approved, we work with the homeowner to make the requested changes from their local jurisdiction and then resubmit the paperwork on their behalf.
In most cases, we’re able to complete projects in as little as 30 days. Even when things take a bit longer, we move things forward as quickly as we can.
One of the key metrics we use to measure success is an NPS score. NPS stands for Net Promoter Score and it measures the loyalty of customers to a company. We send out single question surveys to all Monalee homeowners several times during major milestones of their project with us and are regularly accessing the feedback we receive.
If a homeowner is confused about something relating to their project, this tells us that we need to re-evaluate our current communication and find areas where it can be improved.
We genuinely care about our homeowners and are just as excited as they are when their systems are up and running. We also offer a referral program to those who refer Monalee to their friends, family, and colleagues.
Our team comes with years—even decades—of experience in the solar industry, and one thing we never compromise is the quality of solar equipment. Solar is a big investment, and we want homeowners to get the most out of their system. This is why we work with LONGi and Schneider for all of our Monalee installations. You can learn more about the equipment we use in this guide.
We also include 10-25 year guarantees on equipment, workmanship, and system performance. As we cover here, there are three categories of equipment: the solar panels, the inverter, and the battery (if you opt to add one to your project). We only partner with top-tier equipment providers that we’ve personally vetted and that are reputable, and with a proven track record of efficiency.
Making the switch to renewable energy is so helpful to the environment and for future generations, and it deserves to be rewarded. Aside from federal tax credits and state-specific incentives, you’ll also have a very low monthly utility bill.
In the case of Elijah (below), he was eager to meet the cutoff for California’s NEM 2.0. As you might know, the new NEM 3.0 is less advantageous for homeowners than NEM 2.0, so we understood his motivation to have his installation completed before the cutoff date.
What tends to happen ahead of net metering programs changing or being removed altogether is a surge of homeowners deciding to go solar for the same reason as Elijah. This causes delays as there’s now a bit of a bottleneck with all the requests.
In any case, we were thrilled to help Elijah and many of our other homeowners in California meet the deadline and make the most of their solar systems.
