At Monalee, we save you money on solar without ever compromising the quality of equipment we work with. Solar is a big investment, and we want you to get the most out of your system. This is why we work with Mitrex and Tesla for all of our Monalee installations.

Here’s a quick guide to the solar panels, inverters, and batteries we offer our homeowners.

Mitrex 405

While there are different solar panels on the market, we opt to use Mitrex M405-L3H for our Monalee homeowners. Based in Canada, Mitrex is a leading manufacturer for solar and BIPV products, and trusted with over 20 years of experience.

Their panels feature advanced cell technology, high performing modules, and are able to withstand high snow and wind conditions. Monalee homeowners also benefit from Mitrex’s 25-year product and performance warranty. This means that your system is guaranteed to have 92% output power for the first 12 years, and at least 85% power up to 25 years.

Here are a few specs and stats:

  • Dimensions: 67.8 x 44.6 x 1.2 in thick (H x L x D)
  • Weight is 45.2 + 2.2 lbs
  • Maximum power (Pmax) is 405 Wp
  • Maximum system voltage is 1500 V
  • Cell size measures to 7.16 in x 7.16 in
  • Cell number on each panel is 108

Tesla Solar Inverter

Inverters are a very important piece of equipment needed in any solar energy system. They regulate the flow of electrical power and convert direct current (DC) electricity—this is the energy that solar panels generate from the sun—into alternating current (AC) electricity that the local utility grid uses. Many states offer programs in which homeowners who run on solar can further offset their electric bill by selling excess energy produced from their system to the local grid, and receive redeemable credits in return.

For homes running on solar, inverters do more than regulate the flow of electrical power. In addition to converting direct current electricity into alternating current electricity, inverters also monitor your solar system and provide a communication portal between your system and computer networks. Advanced inverters are needed if you want to rely on solar during a power outage in your area.

The Tesla Solar Inverter has native integration with other Tesla products including their app and Powerwall 3. It also has over-the-air updates and monitoring via Wi-Fi, Ethernet and cellular connectivity (source: Tesla).

The Tesla Solar Inverter has the following specifications:

  • Power: 7.6 kW, 5.7 kW, 5 kW, 3.8 kW
  • Size: 26 in x 16 in x 6 in
  • Weight: 52 lbs
  • CEC Efficiency: 98.0% at 240 V
  • Warranty: 12.5 years (Monalee homeowners are covered for 25 years)

*As a note, Monalee projects completed before March 2024 will have had the Enphase IQ8+ (MC4) inverters installed with their solar systems. If you are new to Monalee and would still like the Enphase inverter, please contact us to coordinate: care@monalee.co.

Tesla Powerwall 3

While not essential for a solar system to run, many homeowners choose to add a battery so that they have more energy independence. As we covered here, when you have a dedicated battery connected to your solar system, there’s really no need to be connected to your local grid. It also provides peace of mind during outages, because you know you’re covered.

Monalee is a proud Certified Tesla Installer, and going forward we will be using Tesla Powerwall 3 (before its release, we were using Tesla Powerwall 2). Once Powerwall 3 is integrated into your solar system, you can monitor and manage it using the Tesla app.

Similar to Powerwall 2, the new version can either be added to your existing solar system or installed on its own. Powerwall 3 supports up to 20 kW DC of solar and provides 11.5 kW AC of continuous power per unit. In most cases, a single unit can support an entire home.

Here are a few things to note:

  • The Tesla Powerwall 3 is currently available in the continental U.S. (coming soon to Hawaii and Puerto Rico)
  • Powerwall 3 can be added to other Powerwall batteries, but are not compatible with Powerwall 2 or Powerwall+ batteries.
  • It is compatible with all major solar inverter brands and can support different system sizes
  • If you have NEM 2.0 status and want to switch to Powerwall 3, you will need to follow NEM 3.0, which has a lower value assigned to credits.
